Our commitment

Print Media Group is an environmentally responsible and compliant organisation, and we take great care in reviewing our procedures to ensure that pollution and waste are minimised in every aspect of our operations. We select environmentally aware, accredited suppliers to ensure that our values are recognised throughout the whole supply chain.

Importantly, we use our expertise to review the whole requirement to reduce waste during the production process, by correctly specifying manufacturing methods, raw materials and economical quantities.

These actions are enhanced by our Environmental Committee and our people on the floor, whose ideas have contributed to the uptake of many green initiatives, which include:

  • minimising waste and energy consumption;
  • segregating all products for recycling;
  • converting to biodegradable products and substances to reduce landfill; and
  • working with our suppliers to introduce more sustainable options for adhesives, inks, dyes, coatings and packaging.

Print Media Group's carbon calculator enables clients to measure and then offset the CO2 associated with production of printed items, for a carbon neutral outcome.

United Nations Global Compact

Print Media Group is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. An international leadership initiative, the United Nations Global Compact seeks to align business operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption. Formalising our commitment to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact reinforces Print Media Group’s aim for continual improvement in strategies, culture and day-to-day operations, while assisting to further develop and promote our responsible approach to print and logistics services. We have committed to provide updates on performance to the UN via annual Communications on Progress reports.

Choosing Green

We work actively with many clients to support the uptake of more sustainable products, in order to reduce the impact on the world around us.

We recommend certain stocks because they carry strong environmental credentials.

FSC® certified paper
Print Media Group has taken the step to be certified under the FSC® Chain of Custody program. This means that we are able to offer our clients the opportunity to purchase FSC® certified paper and to display the FSC® trademark on printed items. The mark is assurance that the paper has been sourced from well managed forests.

Trusted environmental organisations such as WWF, Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth support and encourage FSC® certification. In order to qualify for certification, PMG's operations are subjected to an audit process, which includes monitoring and evaluation to ensure that we comply with FSC® standards.

By buying products with the FSC® label our clients are supporting the growth of responsible forest management worldwide.

Print Media Group holds FSC® Chain of Custody Certification at three sites - Scoresby (Vic), Heidelberg (Vic) and Macquarie Park (NSW).

Carbon neutral and recycled papers

We offer carbon neutral and recycled paper as standard stock items for digital and offset printing.

When using these products, logos or written endorsements can be displayed to qualify your choice. Our people can recommend the best option to suit your project.

Carbon calculator

Print Media Group's carbon calculator enables clients to measure and then offset the CO2 associated with production of printed products, for a carbon neutral outcome.

In order to offset CO2 for clients, PMG purchases carbon credits from wind power projects and equivalent approved products that meet with federal government and international standards. A Certificate of proof is available which specifies the amount of CO2 offset in tonnes. A 'Certified Carbon Neutral' logo can also be displayed by the client on printed items.

The calculator, which is verified by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI), forms part of the company’s commitment to continuously improve its focus on environmental sustainability and green initiatives.
